We have identified many issues that need addressing:
- The loss of family homes to houses in multiple occupation (HMOs) – there is often a lot of turnover with occupants of HMOs and they have less commitment to the area
- Parking, particularly in Semilong, can be difficult at times, leading to double-parking which means emergency vehicles cannot have access
- Anti-social behaviour can sometimes be a concern across the area
- The development of the old University site in St George’s Avenue into 170 homes could cause traffic management issues
- A huge increase in the number of students in our area – up to 4,000 when the schools are all at full capacity means they need safe routes to school
- Increased traffic on the Barrack Road and on all roads in the area puts pressure on crossing points and parking (see above)
